Burning Incense in your Backyard

My wife and I were walking home one day from the corner store when we caught a whiff of a beautiful smelling incense infused into the passing breeze, from one of my neighbours backyard. It was sensational and unexpected.

Personally I have been biased against incense from a young age due to my Christian upbringing. As I have always seen temples burning incense to other gods. However, taking in that exotic perfume that fine day I begin thinking a little bit of perfume incense burning in the backyard on odd special occasions is absolutely a delightful treat for yourself and anyone passing by. So I thought I would give it a go. Firstly I made the error of burning the incense inside the home. It was simply too powerful and unless you really want to cover odours, such as cigarette smell, I do not recommend it. So following my neighbour I burned it outside. Best on a day with a slight breeze, and it is absolutely magic, lots of fun and surprisingly affordable. Preferably you want the breeze blowing away not towards your home, just to keep the air inside your home clean.

After trying a bunch of different incense sticks and cones. Here are my top picks...

Incense Sticks:

1) Silk Road

2) Dragon's Blood

3) Sandalwood

4) Night Queen

5) Midnight

Of course if you are going to burn sticks you'll need a holder or two. Here are our best looking Incense Stick Holders available in our online store:

Another alternative to using incense sticks is the option of using incense cones. Incense cones are a little more compact and great value for money if you want your incense to last.

Here are our top 5 picks for Incense Cones:

1) Ylang Ylang

2) Rose

3) Black Opium

4) Frankincense

5) Egyptian Musk

If you do prefer to go with the incense cones over the incense sticks, here are a few of the stylish Incense Cone Holders, you'll find available in our online store:

By the way, burning Citronella and Lavender Incense sticks and cones are also very effective mosquito repellents, great for outdoor parties.

In our online store we also have various bundle options for you of where you can buy a holder and two packets of incense sticks of your choice. Hope you enjoy.
